Grade 4-8?An attractive, well-written book from one of the more competent authors in the children's science field. If you already own Dorothy Souza's Hurricanes (Carolrhoda, 1994) or Jonathan Kahl's Storm Warning (Lerner, 1993) you still need this one. Beginning with an unnamed but still remembered super-storm that churned across Long Island and slammed into New England in 1938, Lauber goes on to discuss the weather conditions that give birth to hurricanes and the technological developments that allow meteorologists to track storms and predict their paths and powers. She describes the awesome strength of Andrew in 1992 and its possible long-term effects?abetted by construction and other human activities?on the ecology of Southern Florida. A section on other dramatic storms and the local implications of shifts in global weather patterns rounds out the readable, informative text. Crisp full-color photos and clear maps abound, and a list of further reading

Tells how hurricanes form, how scientists study them, and how they have affected the United States throughout this century.

Its flexible, easy-to-follow format is a no-brainer for almost anyone's lifestyle and it's filled with dazzlingly delectable recipes for both the 5 and 2-day diet intervals.. It is a smorgasbord of data about dietary supplements. Then Tobias radio's Elyse and Lena with great news. As for the collaboration between the two authors, I've never read Alafair Burke, but the style here is entirely Clark's. Ethan plans on keeping Charlie safe from a distance, because up close there is something about Charlie that is just too distracting and in his business distraction could cost Ethan his head or Charlie her life. Delving into a world that by some is concidered "taboo" or "weird" this book breaks down those walls and judements in an extremely honest, open, informative way. They trace the fundamental ideas Darwin conceived in generating his various works, showing how some were related to Origin's thesis while others remained a naturalist's observations. That point is used here like the refrain
