This is an uneven collection of rants and reflections on growing old from the grey area between middle and old age. My teacher liked it so much She's buying her own copy. That Siphon is a piece of work and Simone is a real c**t nugget. Having just completed the 2-volume companion history of jazz drumming, "Drumming Men," I was pleased to see how well this current book summarized virtually every significant jazz drummer's life and musical contributions in a nutshell. Listening in a 3 dimensional aspect as drummers is a vital key to seeing how you fit into to the bigger musical picture. It isn't often that a story garners this much thought and discussion from her, but this one did just that. It took me several months to really find my rhythm in the kitchen again, and I suspect this cookbook might've helped. I also don't think that people can rarely move up more than 1 or 2 levels.
