Fighting for justice can be dangerous.

Ruby James has finally made it. As an official Rater, she's reached upper class society and all that comes with it--a huge house in a guarded neighborhood, box seats, and an elite client list. She even has the perfect boyfriend to go with it, one she expects to marry as soon as her career settles.

Then she uncovers a terrible secret. One her boss will do anything to protect.

Now Ruby must decide how much her dreams truly mean to her. Can she remain silent and keep everything she's worked for, or does she dare risk it all to fight for justice?

This is the companion story to Numbers Ignite, book two of the best-selling and award-winning Numbers Game saga. However, as a prequel, it can be read at any point in the series.

I learned what that part of northern Indiana was like in the early 1860's, what the neighbors probably thought, how the community pulled, and didn't pull, together, as well as lots of details about the 87th Indiana. James Alison's latest offering completely lives up to the praises on its book jackets. I checked this book out from the public library and then purchased a copy for my home library because it will prove very useful in making more artistic use of color in my scrapbooking pages. Me, it drives up the wall.

The author deliberately excludes quotes from religious figures, assessing there is so much already out there, it's redundant. I didn't want to put it down as I was interested to see what truths I would learn but equally as interested in the outcome of our ancient friends from Babylon. Shirley Hughes is a British author, and an observant reader can see that the setting doesn't look like America. Some texts cover too much depth on a particular topic at early stages.
